Thirsties Newborn AIO

Don’t say that I didn’t warn you!  I mean, just look at those tiny little toes. Can’t you just smell the new baby smell? Ok, focus…and try to convince yourself that you don’t want another newborn.

…but if you are pregnant, expecting, or planning on having a newborn anytime soon, Thirsties has a brand new diaper just for you!

Introducing Thirsties NB AIO

When Thirsties released their new one-size all-in-one last year, people were concerned that they would no longer have a small newborn option.  The OS AIO begins fitting around 8-10 lbs but one-size diapers tend to be bulky on newborns.  That was one of the features that I truly loved about the Duo AIO (now retired), was that the Size 1 would fit those small newborns.  Problem solved!

About the Newborn AIO:

  • Fits most babies 5-14 lbs. or 0-3 months
  • Umbilical cord snap down
  • 4 layers of absorbent microfiber terry inserts
  • A stay dry microfleece liner
  • Waterproof exterior
  • Gentle elastic around the legs and waist
  • 14 soft solids and prints
  • Made in the US
  • Retails for $14.75-$15.50

I first saw the prototype for this diaper last Fall and immediately knew they were on the right track.  Thirsties has delivered an awesome newborn diaper and I’m sure it’s bound to be a fan favorite.  Let’s take a closer look inside the diaper…

Thirsties Newborn AIO

Do you need a newborn diaper?  With the average birth weight being around 7lbs, parents will find that a one-size diaper won’t fit their child for several weeks.  If you plan on cloth diapering from birth, I would recommend getting a small set of newborn diapers to get started.  You can save them for future children, resell them, or donate them when your child grows out of them.  Here is the size comparison of the newborn AIO (coral & hoot) to the one-size AIO (celery):

Newborn versus one size

As much as I’d love to show you this diaper on a teeny tiny newborn, my baby making days are done.  I do have my daughters Cabbage Patch doll that was excited to try these diapers on though.  I’ve compared them to a few of the other popular newborn diapers on the market for a comparison of the size and features.

Newborn Cloth Diapers Compared

1: Smart Bottoms Born Smart Organic Newborn AIO (6-16lbs)

2. Lil’ Joeys Newborn AIO by Rumparooz (Preemie-12lbs)

3. NEW Thirsties Newborn AIO (5-14lbs)

4. RETIRED Thirsties Duo AIO Size 1 (6-18lbs)

Since every baby is born at a different weight and with different needs, it’s hard to pick a favorite from these.  They all have features that I love for completely different reasons.  For the tiny preemie newborns, the Lil’ Joeys are the clear winner. If you are looking for an organic cotton diaper, you may prefer the Born Smart. For most of us, the Thirsties Newborn AIO is the perfect answer for our newborns.

You can find the all of these diapers at your favorite cloth diaper retailer.

Giveaway Time! Enter to win a 2 pack of the new Thirsties Newborn AIO. Ends January 31st at midnight ET. Winner announced by February 3rd.
